We bring pandas to the playa!
2020 Mutant Vehicle Application.
These are the various views of the vehicle. This year, I am looking to build a new car with the same theme that I created for my camp. Pandas have always been a associated with my Chinese heritage, so back in 2014, I thought that it would be something that people on the playa would enjoy seeing. My old car, Derpy, has been on the playa for 6 years.
My first car was a hit and the final product was very representative of the drawing that I made. This year, I am looking to stay with my panda theme but I wanted to build something a little different. In keeping with the times, this years car will be eco-friendly and possibly even solar powered. It should accommodate 4-5 total passengers (depending on weight) and will used both day and night. The rickshaw design stays within the Asian theme
NIGHT: LEG lights will be placed strategically along the framework of the rickshaw. We will have different colors as well as electric “FLAME” effects. ( LED lights in lanterns)
Costumes:
Some days, Corona the Playa Panda may have a hat on her head.
In the Burning Man fashion of being a little snarky, and depending on the then current events, the panda may have a face mask on some days and some Made in Wuhan China signs on it.
Gifts: We give out necklaces made out of these metal bottle openers for Burning Man Virgins.
My Experience:
I have experience building art cars now and my creations are very representative of my initial drawings. See this drawing that I did for my 2017 application and what the final vehicle wound up looking like.
Community/ Camp/ Home:
We contribute more than a art car. Here is an image of our camp. My camp also provides a hang out complete with snacks and massages and a place for people to hang out. You can see all the bikes of the people giving and getting massages or just hanging out.
